PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, The St. Joseph River is a valuable natural resource which is a benefit to the communities through which it passes; and,

WHEREAS, the canoe trip by Mr. Patrick Sawyer on May 29, 2003 through June 1, 2003 is an excellent method by which to highlight the St. Joseph River, and bring to the forefront it's heritage, conservation issues, recreational opportunities, and general benefit to, and impact on, our community and it's history; and,

WHEREAS, the efforts of all of those who work to protect, revitalize and promote the St. Joseph River in the communities through which it flows are appreciated by the Citizens and Village Council of the Village of Tekonsha; now therefore,

I, Lisa L. Long, Village President of the Village of Tekonsha hereby declare May 29, 2003 to be St. Joseph River Day in the Village of Tekonsha, and recognize Mr. Patrick Sawyer for his contributions to the preservation and enhancement of the St. Joseph River.
